But just by the way, seeing some of the locations in the video reminds me of a hot summer's day when we took Bernie for a run & swim on Danger Bay beach just down from St James near Muizenberg where some of the video is shot.
As we parked we saw some possibly full time gentlemen drinkers parking off on their bench having an argument, but they managed to stop for a moment to let us know they would watch the car.
We had a quick swim, but as the beach borders on the unprotected train line that runs to Simonstown, I found it difficult to relax as I kept envisioning us being at the wrong place at the wrong time.
So we decided to move onto Boulders Beach which could also be tricky for my paranoia as in 'African Penguin kills man after stepping on nest by mistake and slipping off rocks'
But my love of Boulders overcomes such thoughts and imagined fears.
But as we drove off we realized the car stank of old wine. We guessed and I was a bit disappointed that after us having just been so nice to these guys, that while we were on the beach they must have somehow got into the car to check it out for any spoils we had left lying carelessly lying around.
Luckily nothing was missing, but I still thought of the cheek of their possibly thinking that just because I may have looked a bit meek in my Speedo with a beach cloth sarong wrapped round my waste and with a little white dog trotting next to me, that I would not have been capable of taking them...on up to a point. Perhaps even doubting my ability to cause another scene by joining their argument to express how cross and disappointed I was in them
'How could you? After all I just did for you' ...kinda thing.
Thank goodness or the headline could have read, 'Perfectly innocent men attacked by middle aged man in tight Speedo with little fluffy white dog! Middle aged man still recovering in hospital!'
Below see link to the video Quite a White Ou - its a great vid and smart cultural bridge building initiative. Visit it at the youtube link for more info from the producers at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOOCQiKlZ8w
And also while we're at it see link to another brilliant South African music video - a surprisingly moving video parody The Car Guard Song by Derick Watts & The Sunday Blues (Eminem feat. Rihanna Parody) at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6AoptrnFo5Y
