Access to the internet should be a human right!
As my friends will know, one my life's mantras is that cheap if not free access to the internet should be a human right. This would allow everyone to have access to all of the humankind's knowledge so as to enable everyone the ability to self-educate themselves in whatever fields they wish. Finland has already built such rights into its constitution.
In many countries prohibitively expensive data costs charged by the telecommunication companies prevent many people young and old from being able to gain the full benefit that unlimited access can bring. Once connected anyone, no matter how rich or poor, would be able to develop their potential. This could be perhaps learning to play the guitar or starting to learn computer science through to studying a new language. They could learn anything via the net which to my mind is a miracle of the modern age.
Cheap access to the worldwide web could be key in everyone gaining fair access to education. This is vital for all of us to create and live in a fairer world. Personalities that shine like beacons in what sometimes can be darker times such as Mandela and the young Malala have both, in their own inspired ways, pointed to education being key - pivotal in fact to creating the world we all wish to see.
The websites listed below are just a small sample of all that is available to assist anyone wishing to go further with their education by themselves.
Below I highlight some of the the courses that deal with English but there many other courses available. The categories include science and health, business and money, history and world culture, law, computer science and engineering, mathematics, foreign and sign languages.
I visited some of the sites and have taken screen-grabs of the websites so you can see if they might be of further interest to you.
Trying a free course could be a great way for you to assess whether that particular subject comes easy to you and whether or not you would wish to pursue it further.
If you already know what your passion is and the subject you would want to know more about, then these course could be an excellent way to position and keep moving yourself towards your full potential.
May all have cheap access to the internet soon and please do spread the word about these free courses by sharing this article and links. Best wishes with your studies. If you know of other free courses, please let me know in the comment box or facebook link below so I can add them to this article.
As always, may all your good times be present continuous and future perfect

British Council Site - I have added the front page of the British Council site to the list for it is a treasure chest of educational resources and one which I have been using a lot as I explored the fields of teaching English to foreign language students
